The school summer recess has been going for a good few weeks now and we’re sure your getting tired of the refrain… I’m bored!  But this edutainment platform by our friends over at Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) is going to kick the word ‘boredom’ right up the you know where!

The new platform, or digital playground, is the new go-to resource for entertainment and extra-curricular activities and is available across the UAE.

For kids of all ages, it’s jam-packed with enrichment programmes, competitions, edutainment exercises, academic support, and physical and wellbeing challenges across four learning pillars: STEM and Innovation; Enrichment; Arts, Culture & Languages; and Physical Education and Wellbeing.

Amer Al Hammadi, ADEK’s undersecretary said: “The platform’s options are fun and engaging, taking students away from pure academics and filling their time with meaningful activities. There are also ample opportunities for students to connect with their peers in a number of the challenges requiring team collaboration.”

Let’s look at the options

Kids will get to set up safe, scientfic experiements in the home

The spotlight on STEM & Innovation builds on critical thinking in fun ways and includes learning coding and robotics through a series of challenges. There are fun science and engineering experiments to do at home, too.

Arts, Language and Culture provides access to some of the capital’s most iconic attractions. There are hands-on creative activities too, with read ing activities from the extensive digital libraries. Build language skills with a range of courses for native and non-native English and Arabic speakers. There’s also music tutorials and poetry.

For older children there are higher education webinars and university prep talks ensuring they are ready for the big leap into university. There are also admission preparation courses, including IELTS to SATS revisions, specialist subject tutoring and couching sessions for candidate interviews.

Younger students can revise or refresh core subjects ensuring they are prepped for the coming academic year.

Keep fit is on the agenda in the Physical Education and Wellbeing stream with challenges from sports contests, to cooking competitions and physical activities that children can do around the home or garden.
