Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986)

Head back to the mid-1980s when high school student Ferris Bueller (Matthew Boderick) was hatching an ingenious plan to take a day off school and head to downtown Chicago with his girlfriend Sloane Peterson (Mia Sara) and friend Cameron (Alan Ruck). But not just any old trip, Ferris talks Cameron into taking his father’s prized Ferrari. But hot on their heels is school principal Ed Rooney (Jeffrey Jones) who is hell-bent on catching Ferris and gang out. Rating: PG – 13

 

What a girl wants (2003)

Head back to the early noughties where scandal threatens to ruin election results for one wealthy British politician (Colin Firth) after American teenager Daphne Reynolds (Nickelodeon teen star Amanda Bynes) realises that he is her estranged upper-crust father. Daphne must attempt to fit in with the social requirements demanded of her, while also getting to know her father, dealing with his territorial other daughter, and maintaining her own self-identity. Rating: PG

 

Superbad (2007)

Staying in the noughties, these two inseparable friends, Seth (Jonah Hill) and Evan (Michael Cera) are finally preparing to graduate. Not the most popular dudes, and as far away as the in crowd as they possibly can be, this hilarious comedy sees them trying to fulfil a task set by one of the prettiest and coolest girls in school. Rating: R – restricted, 17+
