Well 2020 came… but how’s your bucketlist looking? Yep, we hear you, ours is the same. But the year’s not over yet and things are beginning to open so let’s revisit this 2020 list and hopefully get it ticked off.
There’s lots to see, do and discover in Abu Dhabi. The year hasn’t got off to a great start but there still could be time left to get to do some of these before 2021 arrives. Fingers crossed.
Get your heart racing
CLYMB Abu Dhabi on Yas Island is the city’s latest attraction that lets you conquer new heights. It features the world’s biggest indoor skydiving flight chamber and the world’s tallest indoor climbing wall. Obviously, CLYMB is still closed temporarily but keep checking. Visit: clymbabudhabi.com
Fly above the waves
Again, this is closed for now but once it does open, you’ll get to soar above the crashing waves in front of the Abu Dhabi skyline wearing a jet powered backpack from Abu Dhabi Marine. For updates, keeping checking: abudhabimarine.ae
Ride in Style
We can’t wait till this reopens so we can climb aboard the world’s fastest rollercoaster, Formula Rossa. Hop on and zoom around the track at a heart-racing 240 km per hour in 4.9 seconds! Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Yas Island. Keep checking back at: ferrariworldabudhabi.com
All that glitters…
Yes you guessed it… closed till further notice. But the Pearl Journey presents a magical journey into Abu Dhabi’s heritage. You’ll get to explore pearl diving and oyster opening demonstrations, among others. Eastern Mangroves, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Street. Various timings. Visit: adpearljourney.com
Don’t get the hump
Did you know that camels can run up to 65 km per hour? You do now! If you haven’t done so already, you need to catch a camel racing event and see them dash to the finish line. Once it restarts, the event is Free. Al Wathba Camel Racetrack, Al Ain Road. Various timings. Contact: 02 885 8888
City heights
The Observation Deck at 300 is considered the highest vantage point in Abu Dhabi and is the perfect vantage point from which to enjoy the city sights. The skyline is stunning and you can take it all in while enjoying tea or coffee with snacks, once it reopens of course. We’re sure the kids are driving you bomkers and you’re doing the same to them, but as soon as it reopens, head down to the Children’s Library and Theatre at Qasr Al Hosn and explore the various year-round cultural events promoting Emirati heritage.

The nation’s achievements under a dome
This famous landmark – Qasr Al Watan – houses a vast library that’s well worth a visit. Explore a massive collection of books on history, geography, heritage, biographies, archaeology and, interestingly, literature documenting the UAE’s political and social history.
