These kids singing their hearts out is adorable

Could any of our children in Abu Dhabi be on any of these two videos that the region’s biggest choral festival ChoirFest Middle East has unveiled to celebrate this year’s annual festival?

The ChoirFest Middle East is back but obviously online this year.

Already, ChoirFest has received more than 500 videos from students and singers across the UAE and choirs in Syria, Lebanon and Morocco, resulting in two song-tastic videos celebrating this year’s choral talents.

Singing from their homes, rather than on the stage at Dubai Opera, this year’s special guests, Canadian acappella ensemble Cadence, led the 500 strong singers from 28 nationalities to perform The Impressions’ moving song ‘It’s Alright’ for the junior choirs and ‘Brave’ by Sara Bareilles for senior and adult choirs.

Here’s the kids’ redition of ‘It’s Alright’.

And check the grown-ups singing Brave here.

Shelley Frost, co-founder of ChoirFest Middle East and director of The Fridge said; “The most important objective of ChoirFest Middle East has always been to act as both a symbol of hope and an avenue of growth for choirs that are hosted.

ChoirFest was founded in 2013 by The Fridge founder and Director, Shelley Frost and composer Joanna Marsh. Both women seek to nurture the choral scene of the Middle East by recognising and supporting the music of both non-western and western choral traditions and providing wider public access to choirs from difficult or inaccessible locations.

“As with many festivals around the world in 2020, we were driven to find a way to remain active and engaged with our ChoirFest community. How to celebrate what we love and the transforming power of music, at a time when meeting in large groups is not an option.”

A massive  3,000 students from across 60 schools  took part in this year’s ChoirFest Middle East competition.  Abu Dhabi students included those from The Pearl Academy,  GEMS United Junior Choir, Brighton College, Abu Dhabi Choir.
