The Environment Agency of Abu Dhabi (EAD) has announced that Al Wathba Wetland Reserve will re-open to the public.
The wetland reserve will be open from 1 January 2021 to 30 April 2021.
Due to the COVID-19 lock down, the reserve was closed now will now be accessible to the public again.
The reserve is free to enter and open to all from Tuesday though to Saturday. Timings are from 8am to 6pm, however the last entry time is at 4pm.
Al Wathba Wetland Reserve is one of the first natural reserves in Abu Dhabi.
The late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan declared it a protected area in 1998 as it proved to be the ideal habitat for migratory birds and a significant breeding site for the Greater Flamingos.
The reserve is home to more than 260 migratory bird species, including its star attraction the Greater Flamingo, as well as some 230 species of invertebrates, 11 mammals, 10 reptiles, and 35 plant species.
The reserve also has a bird hide and a viewing platform and is a great place for people that enjoy bird watching.
To ensure the safety of all, visitors must show a negative PCR test, taken within 30 days. However, children 12 years and under can enter without the need of a COVID-19 test.
Face masks need to be worn at all time and the guidelines on entering the reserve must be followed.
