The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) in the UAE has announced an initiative to offer the option to block advertising via short messaging service (SMS).
The initiative is in partnership with telecom operators, Etisalat and Du.
Those who wish to stop receiving advertising messages by SMS can do so by sending an SMS to 7726 with the message ‘Ball’. The service operators will block all advertising messages that start with ‘AD-‘.
This is the first phase in the initiative to limit advertising messages on mobile phones.
As a part of our efforts to improve the telecom services and limit mobile phone advertising messages,
