New Art Installations On Display At Terra

Terra – The Sustainability Pavilion at Expo 2020, now features five art installations demonstrating the Middle Eastern response to the issues of sustainability.

The art pieces are in partnership with Art Dubai, the largest global art event in Dubai, and have been created by four local and regional contemporary artists.

The art instalments focus on the relationship between man and the planet and the importance of living in balance with nature.

The artists are Zeinab Alhashemi from the UAE with art piece ‘Takween‘, Mohammed Ahmed Ibrahim from the UAE with ‘Hugs’, Mohammed Kazem from the UAE with ‘Directions’ and ‘Measuring’, and Ayman Zedani from Saudi Arabia with ‘Terrapolis‘.

Takween‘ by Zeinab Alhashemi focuses on the interdependency between humans and the plant and the need to coexist.

Mohammed Ahmed Ibrahim’s ‘Hugs’ is an interactive piece with space to walk through where visitors are asked to examine their values and the impact of their decisions on the environment.

‘Directions’ by Mohammed Kazem, also known as Expo 2020 are the geographic coordinates of worldwide visitors to the Expo site. ‘Measuring’ focuses on space and challenges the architectural representation of space and showcases his perception.

Terrapolis‘ by Ayman Zedani is a digital monument to the individuals that contributed to the Sustainability Pavilion.

An additional piece created by an international artist will also be added in the upcoming months, at the heart of the building.

Marjan Faraidooni, Chief Experience Officer, Expo 2020 Dubai said, “We are very excited to be showcasing such a wonderful array of installations by some of the most talented and visionary artists from the UAE and the region. The five pieces help to articulate our sustainability messages in uniquely visual and inspiring ways, further empowering people to make changes towards a cleaner, safer, healthier future.”
