84% Of New COVID-19 Cases Are Among Unvaccinated Individuals

The National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) informed the public that with the spike in COVID-19 cases, unvaccinated individuals are more susceptible to the virus.

Currently, 71% of the total population in the UAE has been vaccinated with 91.8% of the eligible groups vaccinated.

Of the new COVID-19 cases, 84% are of individuals that are not vaccinated, with 16% cases from individuals that are vaccinated.

Unvaccinated individuals are more likely to get hospitalised with a rate of 89% with 11% of vaccinated individuals hospitalised after receiving vaccinations.

The new Delta variant spreads at a rate of 40% to 60% more than the other variants.

In a study conducted by various countries, individuals are more likely to be hospitalised with the Delta variant than in comparison to the Alfa variant, especially for individuals with other health ailments.

In the UAE, the most common variant is the Beta variant at 39.2% then the Delta variant at 33.9% and followed by the Alfa variant at 11.3%.

Individuals that have not received their vaccinations can book appointments at registered vaccination centres, with individuals that have received both their doses, receiving booster shots in six months.

Individuals are advised to follow all precautionary measures in order to curb the pandemic.
